Healthcare Systems InitiativesPrimary Care PT practice originally gained traction as a grassroots movement. It has been pioneered by several individuals across the globe who each identified gaps within their facility's approach to managing neuromusculoskeletal concerns and had a vision for health systems innovation. As a result, several unique models of PT in primary care have been implemented in different sectors (VHA, DHA, PHS, and private practice), each with their own benefits and trade offs. In recent years, we have created workgroups to identify key characteristics shared by successful primary care PT programs in an effort to standardize the implementation and development of new programs. We recognize that the success of any program depends on how well it can adapt to meet the specific needs of its facility. We're here to support your goals for primary care PT program development. Our network includes primary care PT clinicians and administrators within the Veteran's Health Administration, Defense Health Agency, Public Health Service, and private hospital systems.
